‘Potter 5’ Draws Mature Rating Down Under

One of the things I have always liked about the “Harry Potter” franchise is that J.K. Rowling’s stories have grown with her audience and no more proof can be found than in the PG-13 rating the last two films achieved here in the states and now we learn that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will not only be PG-13 here, but has received a mature rating in Australia.

The film, to be released on July 11, has earned a mature audience rating from Aussie’s Office of Film and Literature Classification and apparently that carries a lot of weight nown there. On top of that Warner will not be challenging the rating even though they won an appeal for 2004’s Prisoner of Azkaban, but then lost one in 2005 for Goblet of Fire.

These ratings hold true to the States’ PG-13 ratings and I only hope the final film earns an R, but we all know that won’t happen.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

is rated PG-13 for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images.
