Black and Apatow Make ‘Year One’

Judd Apatow is hoping to repeat his box-office success after The 40-Year-Old Virgin with Knocked Up this weekend bringing in $29.2 million at the box, but it still has a ways to go to get to the $109 million Virgin brought in. However, even if it doesn’t this next project may be just what the doctor ordered as Apatow will be teaming up with Jack Black and Harold Ramis for Year One at Columbia Pictures.

Granted, Apatow is just producing the pic, but he seems to have an eye for comedy and Ramis has never been terrible even though I am not a fan of many of his flicks and feel his Analyze This and Analyze That only helped destroy De Niro’s dramatic credibility.

On top of Black starring in the feature there is another gold star we can see though as Michael Cera (a.k.a. George Michael Bluth) will also star in the film. Cera stars in another Apatow produced flick for Columbia, Superbad, later this summer and also provided some Internet hijinks with this little video last month.

As for the film itself, Ramis co-wrote it with “The Office” scribes Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg. Unfortunately, even with all this information we don’t know what the film is about. So, I leave you with that and will now allow it to marinate.
