Is Bourne the Next Bond? Damon’s Done

I don’t think any of us are surprised at the news that Matt Damon confirmed today at the Cannes Film Festival saying that he is done with the Bourne franchise now that he has completed the third installment in the franchise, The Bourne Ultimatum due out this August.

Speaking to the press at Cannes Damon was quoted saying, “The ‘Bourne’ thing I’m definitely done with.” However, he does add that the Bourne character may well live on, played by another actor much in the same way Bond has lived on and a 22nd film in that franchise is due out next year with Daniel Craig reprising his role as the famed British agent. Craig is sixth man to play Bond.

The story continues over at Variety where Damon and George Clooney give a couple of great quotes in regards to Bourne and Ocean’s Thirteen:

“We have ridden that horse as far as we can.” He admitted to feeling like “a bit of a prostitute for putting out two number threes in one year.”

“That’s better than three number twos,” added Clooney.

Look for Damon in The Bourne Ultimatum on August 3 and also in Ocean’s Thirteen on June 8.
