Paul Anderson Remaking ‘Long Good Friday’

Paul W.S. Anderson last directed Alien vs. Predator and even though they are making a sequel I think it is safe to say it was a disappointment. Anderson has never been a favorite of mine, but I will admit I didn’t exactly mind either of the Resident Evil movies and he wrote all three of them and even directed the first. However, that doesn’t mean I am anxiously awaiting his next film, which if it isn’t the Death Race remake we have been hearing about looks like it might be a remake of the classic British crime film The Long Good Friday if BBC’s rumor mill is to be believed.

The Brit news source tells us that filming is due to start in Miami in 2008 under the direction of Anderson retelling the story of the 1980 Bob Hoskins starrer in which an East End gangster criminal empire comes under attack from a wave of mysterious bombings.

Anderson was quoted saying, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to put a new spin on this classic film which promises to reveal today’s gritty underworld in an equally shocking fashion.”

Apparently the hope is to make the new film have a wider reach as the original is considered primarily a UK film.

No actors are attached.
