Disney Gives News on ‘Toy Story 3’ and ‘Frog Princess’

The Hollywood Reporter is carrying a story giving a few new tidbits on a couple of Disney animated features. The first bit of news centers around Toy Story 3, which is now set for release some time in 2010 and both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are back to voice Woody and Buzz.

At Disney’s shareholder meeting Animation chief, John Lasseter said, “We are finally in production on Toy Story 3,” he continued saying, “We got a great story.”

Michael Arndt, who penned the Oscar-winning screenplay for Little Miss Sunshine penned the script.

The other news centers on a film called The Frog Princess which will be Disney Animation’s journey back to hand-drawn animation. The film takes place entirely in New Orleans and features the very first African American Disney princess and a soulful singing alligator according to Lasseter.

Another upcoming feature from Disney and Pixar will be Wall-E, which is set 700 years in the future centering on Wally, a little robot on Earth cleaning the trash-covered planet after the humans evacuated it. Finally there is American Dog, directed by Chris Williams, about a dog with superpowers who suddenly realizes he is only a TV character and must learn to live in the real world.
