IT’S NOT NEWS: February 19, 2007

New Line founder and co-chairman Robert K. Shaye:

And he would not comment on reports in the news media that the “Spider-Man” director Sam Raimi had been asked to direct “The Hobbit.” He said, however, that although there was no workable script yet for the film, he intended to release it in 2009.”

Shia LaBeouf is going to be starring in Indiana Jones IV as the son of Indy:

The thing is, we know Spielberg loves La Beouf right now. DISTURBIA became a pet project for The Beard, and it evidently came out well. TRANSFORMERS is a big deal for the company, and a lot of the weight of that falls squarely on the shoulders of Shia. So as much as I pray that there’s no Indy Jr., I’m starting to think that this may in fact be true.

I can’t tell you if he’s playing Indy’s son or just the new Short Round, but I can tell you that I have heard this exact same thing, and from a source that’s pretty impeccable. As far as I am concerned, this is not a rumor but the truth.

Is Michael Bay open to doing Bad Boys III? And MTV’s all-Flash site SUCKS!

Bay: I don’t know. Will Smith’s people called. They’re fun to work with, those guys.

MTV: And you’d be open to it?

Bay: Yeah, they’re great fun.

Tim Meadows will star in Walk Hard with John C. Reilly, Raymond J. Barry, Jenna Fischer and Kristen Wiig with production set to start this month in L.A.

Directed by Jake Kasdan from a script by Apatow and Kasdan, the film pokes fun at the musician biopic genre and centers on a singer named Dewey Cox (Reilly) who overcomes adversity to become a musical legend.

The boys at JoBlo.com have heard from their readers and The Departed won the most “Golden Schmoes” with 6.

Another year, another Golden Schmoes wrapped up and ready to serve. Despite the fact that THE DEPARTED won the most awards this year (6), I would say that CASINO ROYALE was the big surprise as it was only nominated for 7 awards, but managed to win in 5 of them! THE DEPARTED was up for 12 awards, but only won half of them.
