Box-Office Wrap-Up: Feb. 9 – Feb. 11

As far as I’m concerned I accomplished two things this weekend. First, I picked the highest grossing movie. Second, I underestimated the overall stupidity of the American public. Norbit may have won the weekend but the real winner is whatever company sells paste for food.
#1 movie predicted correctly: One Week In A Row
If you were one of the four million folks who saw this one please tell me you didn’t like it too. You can still help others before it’s too late.
Result: $33.7 million (My rank: #1, $15.1m off)
The next sequel should be about how Hannibal once ran an animal shelter. Really, why stop at sequels and prequels? Let’s do a parallel universquel.
Result: $13.3 million (My rank: #2, $1.9m off)
Hilarious that this one beat The Messengers this weekend. Awesome job all the way around guys, pass the lube.
Result: $9.0 million (My rank: #4, $2.1m off)
Hannibal destroyed this. I think MGM owes Columbia a little apology, or maybe a mani/pedi.
Result: $7.2 million (My rank: #3, $.1m off)
$232m and rising. Tell me you wouldn’t have bet something inside your body that it wouldn’t have made this much. $230m sure, but not the extra $2m. You would have bet a kidney right? Or a liver.
Result: $5.7 million (My rank: #7, $2.5m off)
Chalk up another half million hearty souls for Epic Movie. We need to start keeping some type log on who won’t be going to the new planet we colonize. Shhh. Keep it secret, keep it safe.
Result: $4.4 million (My rank: #5, $.4m off)
I would really like to see this unrated DVD. Not so much that I want to review it, because DVD reviews take hours, but enough that I’ll steal it from Brad once he’s done.
Result: $3.7 million (My rank: #6, $.3m off)
It will be interesting to see if this strong financial run these past few months will garner the Oscar. I think it will.
Result: $3.5 million (My rank: #8, $1.1m off)
Dream on you dreamers. By the way, Oracle Easter Egg, I really liked Music and Lyrics.
Result: $3.0 million (My rank: #10, $1.3m off)
It will be interesting to see if this strong financial run these past few months will garner the Oscar. I think it won’t.
Result: $2.5 million (My rank: Not Ranked)
