Dr. Dre Making Movies?

Dr. Dre is far removed from his “Fuck the Police” days with N.W.A. and hasn’t released a chronic themed album in over five years. Naturally this means it is time for him to get into making movies, after all he might be able to bring us Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horror 2! Yeah, do it… do it…

Word out of Variety is that New Line has set Dre up with a multiyear feature producing deal through his new Crucial Films banner. On top of producing he is also going to take a large role in the music side of the films with an eye on hopefully directing some day. Dre told Variety, “This is a natural switch for me, since I’ve directed a lot of musicvideos… And I eventually want to get into directing.”

Plans are to focus first on developing dark comedies for the mini-major before moving into other areas, such as horror.

Dre scored the film Set It Off and also starred in Training Day as one of Alonzo’s bad boy coppers Paul. Dre’s produced albums have sold more than 80 million worldwide and won four Grammy Awards. He’s been involved with artists such as Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Eve and the Game.
