Salma Hayek Presenting Oscar Nominations

Who would have ever thought breasts could trump the Oscar nominations? Well, that is exactly what is about to happen on January 23 as the nominations for the 79th Academy Awards® will be announced by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis and Oscar-nominated actress and Academy member Salma Hayek.

Ganis and Hayek will unveil the nominations in 10 of the 24 award categories at a 5:30 a.m. news conference at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, where media representatives from around the world will be gathered. Nominations information for all categories will be featured right here on RopeofSilicon that morning, and be sure we will have full coverage of the show with our “expert” opinions included.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2006 will be presented on Sunday, February 25, 2007, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.

The Oscars® will be televised live by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST (8 p.m. EST), beginning with a half-hour red carpet arrivals segment, “The Road to the Oscars.”
