To say Jason Bateman saw a career surge thanks to the niche comedy “Arrested Development” just might be the understatement of the decade and it isn’t like he doesn’t deserve it, wait until you see him in Smokin’ Aces! He brings so much goodness to every movie it is shocking it took a little seen television show to get peoplee onboard the Bateman train.
Anyway, he is about to board a little train of his own as Production Weekly tells us that he is close to a deal to star opposite Will Smith and Charlize Theron in Peter Berg’s superhero drama Tonight, He Comes.
In the film Smith plays a down-and-out superhero who has a bad image with the public because he causes a lot of collateral damage while he solves crime, and he’s an alcoholic. Bateman plays a corporate public relations consultant, who after being rescued buy Smith tries to repay him by revamping his image. But while Bateman is trying to repair Smith’s reputation the superhero is secretly romancing Bateman’s alluring wife played by Theron.
Shooting will start in early May in Los Angeles with a planned release of July 2, 2008.
Bateman is also set to star in Berg’s other upcoming film The Kingdom.
