Even more casting and directing goodness is coming out of the Cannes Film Festival via Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, but there is also some alternate festival snacks coming by the way of JoBlo.com who is back at it in Cannes and offering up some video this time as JoBlo himself is stalking the sexier celebs upon arrival and providing some fun coverage on the way. The film already has an expected release of July 2007 and is based on an original idea by the helmer’s longtime collaborator, Gerard Brach, and is co-written by Annaud.
Shooting begins September 4 at the new City of Lights studio near Alicante, Spain.

The film was adapted from Walker Percy’s novel of the same name by Logue and Jeff Kitchen, is the story of a depressed, suicidal widower who falls in love with a young woman who’s escaped from a mental institution.

The pic centers on a crippled cop who works with a group of undercover investigators who temporarily paralyze hearts to move back and forth between the land of the living and the dead.
Shooting is expected to begin early next year from a Jessie Alexander script.
