Talk about riding the roller coaster, Patrick Dempsey rose to popularity quickly with Can’t By Me Love way back in 1987, and he followed that up with a hefty load of supporting roles and some roles on television, but it wasn’t until “Grey’s Anatomy” last year that his name was thrown back into the fray, which included a recent Golden Globe nomination as well as a Screen Actors Guild nomination. Not too hard to say he is back in the swing of things.
Today Variety reported that his television success has garnered him so feature film consideration as he has just been tapped for roles in two upcoming films.
First up is Freedom Writers for Paramount Pictures in which he would play the husband of Hilary Swank‘s character in the story of a young teacher who inspires her class of at-risk students to pursue education beyond high school. The second films is Enchanted for Walt Disney Pictures, which is not exactly firmed up just yet due to some scheduling difficulties, but if things can be worked out he will take a role alongside Amy Adams, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden and Idina Menzel as a hard-working single father who meets Adams’ character, who is banished by an evil queen from the animated world of Andalasia to present-day, live-action New York City.
Gotta say, as a product of the ’80s and a fan of Can’t Buy Me Love, it is nice to see Dempsey back in the limelight.
