At first it was touted as a remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Then the title was simply changed to Invasion since the synopsis was different enough from Invasion of the Body Snatchers that they didn’t want it to be considered a remake. Now, Warner Bros. Pictures is giving up on the word “invasion” completely and has renamed their upcoming thrill The Visiting, starring Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig and now Jeremy Northam.
The film will be directed by acclaimed director Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall) as it tells the story of a mysterious epidemic that alters the behavior of human beings. When a Washington D.C. psychiatrist (Nicole Kidman) discovers the epidemic’s origins are extraterrestrial, she must fight to protect her son, who may hold the key to stopping an imminent invasion.
A press conference announcing the start of production will take place this Friday (Sept. 23rd) in Washington D.C. as the film aims for a 2006 release.
