‘Ray’ Gets Rushed to DVD in Time for Oscar

Fans of the biopic Ray are in for a treat as the film is getting the DVD rush job in time for an award season push.

With Oscar nominees announced on January 25th Ray is eyeing a DVD release date of February 1st, in time for balloting. Along with the release Universal is holding nothing back with two separate releases, a 2-disc special edition and a 2-disc limited edition release.

According to DVDAnswers.com, both releases will contain the original theatrical release of the film, but the big bonus is a second release included on the DVD containing 25 minutes of additional footage. On top of this the standard edition will also include fourteen never-before-seen deleted scenes, complete uncut music performances from the film featuring Hit the Road Jack and What Kind of Man Are You, a Walking in His Shoes featurette that takes a revealing look at Jamie Foxx’s incredible transformation into Ray Charles and Ray Remembered in which friends and fellow musicians remember Ray Charles.

The limited gift set will contain all the previously mentioned material along with 20-minutes of additional uncut music performances from the film, a Filmmakers’ Journey feature and a collectible photo book.
