With Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson already aboard Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment’s untitled exorcism project why not add three more? Campbell Scott, Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog) and Jennifer Carpenter are joining the cast of the film with Scott Derrickson set to direct.
The horror/thriller was formerly known as The Exorcism of Anneliese Michel when we first reported Linney and Wilkinson joining the cast but now it is considered an untitled film.
As for the story, it is based on true events involving the Catholic Church officially recognizing the demonic possession of an 18-year-old German college freshman. The young woman died during her exorcism, and a priest stood trial for causing her death.
