Variety is reporting that there is talk around the Paramount studio of an Italian Job 2, while the first film was not a major success, but remains Par’s top film of 2003, a treatment is currently in the works being written by Wayne and Donna Powers, the same team that scripted the remake of the 1969 Michael Caine version.
Story details are yet unknown, but St. Tropez, Paris and the Swiss Alps are being eyed as the primary shooting locations, but the big question is will the studio be able to get back the huge cast it boasted on the first one including Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron and Edward Norton?
Norton was on the first project because he was forced by the studio to complete a three-picture deal, then you have recent Oscar winner Charlize Theron whose stock has risen, but who knows how high it will go with such a variety of films on her upcoming palette.
