Raimi Talks SPIDER-MAN 2.5 DVD

In a not so unbelievable situation Sony Pictures has decided they will give you more of the webbed one to get their hands on more of your green, but they aren’t going to be simply offering more special features, they are going to be offering more movie. As if Spider-Man 2 wasn’t long enough already IGN.com is reporting that in an interview with SM2 director, Sam Raimi, he confirmed work on a Spider-Man 2.5 DVD set for release sometime mid-2005.

Raimi told IGN he wasn’t sure of a release date as he said, “Well, I know that I won’t be done with my part of [Spider-Man 2.5], these new effects shots, the editing… I’m still boarding the new scenes, so I don’t know, but I don’t think I can be done until January at least, maybe February.”

He also wasn’t shy about the reason behind the studio’s decision to move forward with the 2.5 idea, “Well, I think that, one, it’s just a financial decision by the studio. They know that people who liked the second movie would want to own it as it is on DVD, and then it’s just a gamble. ‘Oh, if we spend another four million dollars, can we make another ten million dollars? I think that’s how it works.”

So what can you expect? Well he detailed about 26 seconds of additional action sequences including more on the train, more on the tower and more in the water, good thing it isn’t going to be more Aunt May. To get the rest of the interview click here and you can preorder the Spider-Man 2 DVD here.
