If this comes as a surprise then you have not seen Resident Evil: Apocalypse yet and its sequel friendly ending, but Empire Online is now reporting that thanks to an excellent first weekend box-office producers are already talking about a second sequel in the horror franchise – Resident Evil: Afterlife.
The Empire article quotes writer/producer of Apocalypse, Paul W.S. Anderson, saying that he envisages a third entry into the series. “I always thought of the Resident Evil films as a trilogy,” he told the Hollywood Reporter. “The first was a prequel to the game world. The new movie intersects the film and game worlds. And the third movie will act as a follow-up to the games. It’s a nice arc – pre-history, in-game and then a sequel to the games.”
Unsurprisingly, Milla Jovovich, the future Mrs. Anderson and star of the RE films, has already said that she is keen to do another installment, but the sequel has not officially been announced just yet.
