I have tried to steer clear of doing too much reporting on the whole Star Wars 7, 8 and 9 scene considering rumors come out and then they are immediately shot down by either Lucasfilm or Fox. I didn’t think people would want their chains back and forth so I avoided too much reporting, but now Clint over at Moviehole.net is reporting that he was told by a studio insider that there is more Star Wars to come.
While in Hollywood Clint has been delivering tons of news, but this may take the cake if it proves true as he spoke with two very, very reliable insiders – one studio based, another connected to the cast of the original films – who claim that Lucas is indeed going to be doing the three sequels. “They’re happening. They’re already happening”, one said “The three films are all in various stages of development as we speak. They’re keeping them quiet for the meantime I believe, but Lucas has four more Star Wars films to deliver to Fox”.
FOUR? Yeah, that is how it read, not quite sure what direction this is all going to take, but IESB.net has reported that the films will be animated.
Thoughts of an animated series makes sense considering the recent Star Wars animated series, but it would also devalue their contribution to the franchise considering public appeal would be far from what it is for the live-action films.
Either way, don’t get your hopes up too soon, since official word on any thing sequel related probably won’t come out until after the release of Episode III next May.
