New Foes for BATMAN and New Pic of Batsuit

A couple of great bits hit the web recently in regards to Warner Bros. Batman Begins as SCI-FI Wire got a chance to talk to screenwriter David Goyer and director Christopher Nolan about their inclusion of some unfilmed villains for the prequel film, and in even cooler news a pic of Christian Bale in the Batsuit has been popping up all over the place.

First off, the pic details Christian Bale in the Batsuit giving you a good look at the texture and design. We have copied a smaller image at the end of this article, but you can click on it below to head over to JoBlo.com to get a larger view. The pic was apparently sent in by a scooper claiming to have received it off of SuperHeroHype! but at the time of this article I also couldn’t find it there.

Now we have the news from SCI-FI Wire from there chats with Goyer and Nolan, “I felt very strongly that we should use characters that hadn’t been depicted in the films before,” Goyer said at Comic-Con International in San Diego over the weekend. “…I felt, in the case of Scarecrow and Ra’s Al Ghul, that they were two really great villains that hadn’t been used.”

Cillian Murphy is tapped to play Dr. Jonathan Crane/the Scarecrow, a former college professor who uses a fear toxin to kill people and The Last Samurai co-star Ken Watanabe will be playing Ra’s Al Ghul (Arabic for “The Devil’s Head”), a brilliant and mystical terrorist.

Goyer’s thoughts on both these characters make this film sound even better and better, “I happen to think that Ra’s Al Ghul is unique as a Batman villain because his goals, though certainly perverted, are somewhat… more realistic… The Scarecrow is unique, because it’s allowed [us] the opportunity to depict a villain that’s truly scary and frightening.”
