FANTASTIC FOUR Gets 3 out of 4 as the Cast Takes Shape

No sooner than I posted an article about a ton of casting rumors does official word come from Variety that three of the four main characters for 20th Century Fox’s Fantastic Four have been cast.

We already knew about Chris Evans filling the role of Johnny “The Human Torch” Storm, and we finally get official word that Michael Chiklis will play Ben Grimm/the Thing and Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. Chiklis and Gruffudd had been rumored for a while so this comes as no big surprise, and with one character left even Variety has its hints at who will play Sue Richards/The Invisible Woman.

According to the trade the rumors that Rachel McAdams, Elisha Cuthbert, Christina Milian and Keri Russell will play the role are not completely debunked, but it looks as if “Dark Angel” beauty Jessica Alba is in the driver’s seat to take on the part.

As for comment from Fox they told Variety, “We see ‘Fantastic Four’ as the last great jewel in the comicbook crown,” said Fox production prexy Hutch Parker. “The casting has been extremely important in terms of fulfilling expectations of an audience that’s been incredibly loyal to these characters for over 40 years.”

Fantastic Four already has a tentative release date of July 1, 2005 as the film will draw its inspiration more from the new Ultimate Fantastic Four title rather than from the traditional comic book series as it follows the adventures of scientist Reed Richards, his love interest, Susan Storm, her brother, Johnny, and Reed’s best friend, Benjamin Grimm.

Stayed tuned as we expect the results of the Sue Richards casting should be right around the corner.
