It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, Nope… It’s Jake Gyllenhaal

That’s right folks, apparently the tabloid Star Magazine has dropped the news that it will not be Jude Law, Ashton Kutcher, Brendan Fraser, Tom Welling or Henry Cavill playing the role of the man in tights in McG’s Superman, but it will be Tomorrow‘s star Jake Gyllenhaal.

The rag reports that although it’s his starlet girlfriend Kirsten Dunst who makes him weak — rather than Kryptonite — sources say Jake Gyllenhaal is set to soar now that he’s landed the coveted role of Superman. Star can exclusively report that Gyllenhaal, 23 — best-known for his roles in The Good Girl, with Jennifer Aniston, 35, and Donnie Darko — beat out actors like Ashton Kutcher, 26 and Brendan Fraser, 35, to play the Man of Steel.

Considering there has been more than enough talk around this movie lately the wheels are certainly in motion, but we will just have to wait and see if this is true or just another rag rumor.

In the meantime we have posted Gyllenhaal’s name in association with the film and we hope to have it confirmed in the near future.
