Usually I would reserve something like this for the “Ripped from the Headlines” section of the site, but this is just too good and just a bit unbelievable.
You read the headline correct, Variety is reporting that scribes Bobby Florsheim and Josh Stolberg have sold their script titled, “The Passion of the Ark” to Columbia Pictures for $1.5 million against $2.5 million.
The film will be a modern-day tale of an unmarried man approached by God to build an ark to save the world from a second flood.
Whether anyone is going to admit it or not the title is an obvious knockoff of Mel Gibson’s highly successful biblical story The Passion of the Christ, and while it is a modern day tale it will surely hope to reap the rewards of a similar title, which I am sure will also be disputed if it ends up being the final title.
