Variety reports that the original Star Wars trilogy will finally come to DVD on September 21st prime to make a fine profit thanks to the holiday season.
“The timing is right since there is tremendous pent-up demand and DVD is now in more than 50 million households,” Fox Video president Mike Dunn told Variety.
The set will consist of four discs, three will contain newly remastered versions of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, with a fourth disc reserved for bonus features including never-before-seen footage from the making of each film.
While pricing and bonus features are being worked out the cost should be around $50, similar to the cost of the Indiana Jones trilogy released last year.
