A new Iron Giant trailer has been released for the film’s remastered re-release
As announced earlier this summer, Brad Bird’s animated masterpiece The Iron Giant will be getting a special remastered re-release in theaters and you can now check out a newly-released Iron Giant trailer in the player below, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies! Dubbed The Iron Giant: Signature Edition, the film will feature two all-new scenes and will be released in theaters for a limited engagement through Fathom Events on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:00PM local time, with an encore event in select markets on Sunday, October 4 at 12:00PM local time.
Winner of nine Annie Awards, The Iron Giant is the tale of an unlikely friendship between a rebellious boy named Hogarth (voiced by Eli Marienthal) and a giant robot, voiced by a then little-known actor named Vin Diesel. The voice cast also included Jennifer Aniston, Harry Connick Jr., James Gammon, Cloris Leachman, Christopher McDonald and John Mahoney.
The feature directorial debut of Bird (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Tomorrowland), the film was produced by Allison Abbate and Des McAnuff from a screenplay written by Tim McCanlies. Adapted from poet Ted Hughes’ book, “The Iron Man,” The Iron Giant was first released in the summer of 1999 by Warner Bros.
Following the re-release of the film in theaters, a high-definition version of The Iron Giant: Signature Edition will be available to purchase from digital retailers this fall.
ComingSoon.net had the opportunity to sit down with Bird earlier this year to chat about Tomorrowland. Click here to check out the full interview!

UPDATE: Unfortunately, it looks like plans for a Blu-ray version of The Iron Giant have not yet been made official after all. Yahoo! Movies has updated their story and WBHE has informed us that, while an Iron Giant Blu-ray will happen, such a disc does not yet have a planned release date and will not see release in 2015. Check back for further information as it becomes available.
