DreamWorks Animation’s animated sci-fi adventure Home leads the charge in a relatively quiet week for new releases. The only other major example of recent theatrical fare is the Hungarian drama, White God, which features more than 200 canine stars!
Arriving straight to home video is the DC Comics animated feature Justice League: Gods and Monsters, while the new Disney Channel Musical, Disney’s Descendants, arrives (on DVD only) this Friday, July 31st (the same day as its big premiere).
Kino this week delivers a catalogue cult classic with writer/director Steve De Jarnatt’s 1988 nuclear war thriller Miracle Mile. Scream Factory, meanwhile, brings more semi-obscure horror fare to HD with the same year’s Ghost Town.
On the small screen front, the second season of Syfy’s Helix arrives while Shout! Factory continues its impressive “Mystery Science Theater 3000” collection with Volume XXXIII. Hitting DVD only, it includes MST3K versions of the films Daddy-O, Earth vs. the Spider, Teen-age Crime Wave and Agent for H.A.R.M.
