Lionsgate has acquired comedy spec script Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty from Adam Sachs and set it up with Todd Garner’s Broken Road Productions and Energy Entertainment, reports Variety.
The story centers on the friendship between a drunk, middle-aged reporter and a teenager who bond while finding themselves somehow pitted against a group of fanatical protesters.
Garner’s producing along with Energy topper Brooklyn Weaver, who also Sachs’ manager. Adam Marshall of Energy will co-produce and Sean Robins, who found the project for Broken Road, will be attached in some producing capacity.
