Set to “be back” in his iconic role as the T-800 in next week’s Terminator Genisys, Arnold Schwarzenegger has today lined up a role in a revenge drama called 478. Deadline has the news, reporting that Enemy scribe Javier Gullon is supplying the screenplay with Darren Aronofksy (Black Swan, Noah) set to produce through his Protozoa Pictures.
478 follows Schwarzenegger as a man whose wife and children are killed in a plane crash that has resulted from the actions of a negligent air traffic controller. Although the controller is arrested and placed in protective custody, Schwarzenegger’s character has plans for revenge. The article notes, however, that this isn’t so much an action thriller as a quieter, character-driven story more in line with the star’s recent turn in Maggie.
Although it’s ultimately going to be up to the new film’s box office take, Schwarzenegger has said that he’d love to reprise the T-800 for another, post-Genisys Terminator film. He’s also set to return to the Hyborian Age for Universal Pictures’ long-awaited The Legend of Conan. With a tone likened to Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven, The Legend of Conan is being targeted to launch (or, rather, continue) a cinematic universe based on Robert E. Howard’s tales.
Production on 478 is slated to begin this fall.
