We’re just over three months away from Stephen Colbert’s debut as host of CBS’ “Late Show” and Colbert himself is today taking to the internet with a special video update to the Colbert Nation. In the player below, you can watch as Stephen gets ready for the gig by shaving his epic “Colbeard” (as featured on the cover of “Homeless Sea Captain Monthly”) and models several of the hippest new styles in facial hair (including “The Un-Hitler,” “The Amish” and “The Half Wolverine”).
Look for CBS’ “‘Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to debut Tuesday, Sept. 8 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT), straight from the historic Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City.
Colbert is, of course, best known for his late night satirical show, “The Colbert Report,” which ended on Friday, Dec. 18, 2014. The program earned two Peabody Awards and 29 Emmy Award nominations, including two Emmy wins for Outstanding Variety Series (2013, 2014) and four Emmy wins for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program (2008, 2010, 2013, 2014). Prior to that, Colbert spent eight years as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” as an on-air personality and writer of news satire for the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series.
