Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills Canceled by Konami

Made famous after debuting to the world as “P.T.” (playable teaser), word has broken that the Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima project Silent Hills has been canceled by developer Konami.

“Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it,” Norman Reedus, who would have starred in the game, wrote on Twitter. “Hopefully it’ll come back around. Sorry everyone.”

It’s been previously reported that Kojima and Konami were in the midst of a falling out and the game’s cancellation might be a result of that. Konami did note that despite Silent Hills no longer being in the works, they will “continue to develop the ‘SILENT HILL’ series.”

“We talked about concepts and tools at his headquarters in Tokyo,” Del Toro previously said about his collaboration with Kojima. “Then he sent his first version of the playable teaser. I saw it loved it. We then… exchanged ideas and the result was the playable teaser you see now… The concepts we’re discussing, the ideas that we’re discussing and the tools that are in play to create Silent Hills are going to render an incredibly intense and an incredibly scary game.”

The playable teaser will remain online until April 29, so if any players have yet to get their hands on the product, there is still time to do so.
