BBC News is reporting that James Bond actor Daniel Craig flew into New York over the weekend for a minor surgical procedure to correct a knee injury he sustained while in production on Sony and MGM’s latest 007 outing, Spectre.
“During a scheduled break, Daniel Craig had arthroscopic surgery to repair his knee injury. He will rejoin production on April 22nd at Pinewood,” a spokeswoman for the production said.
The 47-year-old Craig sprained his knee in early February while shooting an action sequence at Pinewood studios in Buckinghamshire, UK. Since then, Craig has moved with the production to location work in Rome and Mexico, and the production denies he missed any day’s work due to injury.
Shortly after the accident, Roger Moore jokingly offered his replacement services as Bond on Twitter, and later took part in a filmed Comedy Relief sketch with Craig at Pinewood.
Sorry to hear Daniel Craig has sprained his knee on set #Spectre. Being 007 is not without its hazards. I’m available to step in if needed.

In the movie, a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.
SPECTRE (Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion), as Bond fans know, is a fictional global terrorist organization featured in Ian Fleming’s novels, as well as the films and video games based on those novels. The organization was led by the villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, although the cast is definitely playing it coy about whether or not Blofeld will actually appear in the new film.
Directed by the Academy Award-winning Sam Mendes (Skyfall), Spectre is the 24th film in the 007 series and stars Daniel Craig, Ben Wishaw, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci, David Bautista, Léa Seydoux, Andrew Scott and Rory Kinnear. Written by John Logan and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, the movie hits theaters on November 6, 2015.
