Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the major releases hitting this week on Blu-ray and DVD! With the holiday season upon us, this week’s titles are bit fewer in number, but there are still some definite treats.
Syfy brings home two of its hit series with the third season of Continuum (the Canadian time travel adventure starring Rachel Nichols) and the first season of Dominion (the new series based on the director Scott Stewart’s 2010 apocalyptic actioner). Both sets contain 13 episodes each.
Also seeing release on the television front is the first season of the BBC’s Intruders. Based on the supernatural thriller novel by Michael Marshall Smith, the series is directed by both The Blair Witch Project‘s Eduardo Sanchez and The Last Exorcism‘s Daniel Stamm. All eight first season episodes are included.
New big screen releases include Philippe Falardeau’s The Good Lie (starring Reese Witherspoon in the true story of an American woman who sets out to aid four Lost Boys of Sudan), The Trip to Italy (Michael Winterbottom’s sequel to his 2010 comedy The Trip, reuniting stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon) and Pride (the Golden Globe-nominated true story of gay activists in the UK who, in 1984, agreed to work helping miners during a lengthy strike).
Olive Films, meanwhile, continues to release on Blu-ray all sorts of previously unavailable gems. This week sees the release of both Rudolph Maté’s 1950 crime thriller Union Station, starring William Holden, and Lewis Allen’s 1951 noir entry Appointment with Danger. Both are available individually for the first time, having previously been released as part of Olive’s Film Noir Collection.
