Sony BMG’s film unit has hired Darnell Martin (Their Eyes Were Watching God) to direct Cadillac Records, which she also wrote from an original idea, says Variety.
The film, set in the Chicago music world of the 1950s populated by the likes of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Elvis Presley, is produced by Sofia Sondervan and Andrew Lack.
Casting is under way, with shooting to start later this year in Chi.
