Variety says Fox Searchlight has hired new feature helmer Marc Webb to direct 500 Days of Summer, a romantic comedy written by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber. Mark Waters, Jessica Tuchinsky and Mason Novick are producing.
“It’s about a guy who falls in love with a girl who doesn’t believe in love,” said Webb, who is known for his work directing music videos for high- profile bands such as Weezer, the All-American Rejects and My Chemical Romance.
He won director of the year at the 2006 Music Video Production Awards and took home prizes for rock video for AFI’s “Miss Murder” and group video for the All-American Rejects’ “Move Along” at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.
