Ain’t It Cool News has learned that helmer Michael Apted will take over the director’s chair for Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the third installment in the franchise.
Andrew Adamson directed the first film, “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” and is currently filming the second, “Prince Caspian” for a May 16, 2008 release.
In “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” Edmund and Lucy help locate the seven banished lords of Narnia. The fourth film is expected to be an adaptation of “The Silver Chair.”
Apted is the creative mind behind the “Up” series of films and previously directed Amazing Grace, The World Is Not Enough, Thunderheart, Gorillas in the Mist, Coal Miner’s Daughter, Gorky Park and many more.
