Scooper ‘Filmfreak11’ sent in a report from the set of What Just Happened? at California State University Northridge. The comedy stars Robert De Niro, Stanley Tucci, John Turturro, Kristen Stewart, Catherine Keener and Robin Wright Penn. Bruce Willis and Sean Penn also will be featured in small roles, playing themselves.
Director Barry Levinson’s film centers on a desperate movie producer (De Niro) trying to survive the treachery of Hollywood and a broken second marriage.
Production crew for “What Just Happened?” started setting up for a movie premiere set at Cal State University Northridge’s Library on Monday, April 9. They were shooting on the evening of Thursday, April 12. And took everything down the next day. It looks like a movie premiere screening of the Sean Penn film called “Fiercely” at the Cannes Film Festival. It appears only the exteriors were used. But inside, windows were covered, red curtains hung, and other decor were set up. The movie stars Sean Penn, Robert De Niro, and Bruce Willis. Supposedly Sean Penn and Robert De Niro were on set, but I didn’t spot them. Bruce Willis was supposed to be there earlier in the day. I did spot director Barry Levinson in a white hat. Extras dressed in tuxedos and dresses. Some were waving and others took flash pictures as the “stars” walked down the red carpet. There were men in uniform on the steps. I heard dogbarking when they get ready for a take, I’m not sure if it means anything. They used a sidewalk as a road for limos to drive on when the stars step off the red carpet. I was only there from 11pm-12am. They were supposedly shooting until 2am. While taking down the set, I noticed American Airlines containers. Maybe they’re moving the equipment to another location that requires a plane trip.
