Selena Gomez reveals she almost missed her proposal
Recently, the “Calm Down” singer shared that she nearly skipped out on her engagement proposal. Selena Gomez recently revealed that she wasn’t feeling her best on the day of the proposal and almost decided to stay home instead.
During the March 20 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he congratulated the couple and asked Gomez if she had any idea what was coming. She admitted she was completely unaware, recalling that she was tired and preoccupied with work.
The Wizards of Waverly Place star explained, “We had to do a lot of promo for the album.” She added, “So I woke up, and I was very confused on what was happening, on where we were going, because it seemed kind of far. So, I’m kind of a little grumpy. I’m, like, tired.”
Moreover, Benny Blanco shared how the proposal almost didn’t happen and that Selena Gomez even considered canceling their plans. He said, “She almost didn’t even come.” The “Diamonds” songwriter explained, “She was like, ‘I really don’t feel that well. I think I’m just going to stay home today. Can’t we just make up the shoot another day?’ And I was like, ‘Uhh…’ I’m trying to figure out a way to do…”
Despite the rocky start, the proposal went as planned and Gomez was taken completely by surprise. The couple later announced their engagement in December 2024, sharing photos of the intimate moment on Instagram. The special occasion included a romantic picnic along with Selena Gomez’s favorite: Taco Bell. Benny Blanco also revealed he had hidden the six-carat engagement ring in a bag for days, calling it “the scariest week of my life.”
