AMC has shared a new Dead City Season 2 trailer for the upcoming return of hit The Walking Dead spin-off, starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The next installment is scheduled to make its debut on May 4, 2025 on AMC and AMC+.

What happens in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 trailer?
The video highlights the aftermath of the Season 1 finale, where Negan was forced to join The Dama’s forces for the sake of Hershel’s safety. In the trailer, the fan-favorite antagonist finally reunites with his signature baseball bat Lucille, as he becomes a key figure in The Dama’s plans to unite the communities of Manhattan. The video also teases Maggie’s return to the dangerous city, highlighting the challenges she must face, including getting stuck in a fighting ring with walkers.
The spin-off follows the popular Maggie and Negan characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror,” reads the synopsis. “In Season 2, in the growing war for control of Manhattan, Maggie and Negan find themselves trapped on opposite sides. As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined.”
The Walking Dead: Dead City is created and executive produced by Eli Jorné, who also serves as the showrunner. The spin-off is led by franchise vets Lauren Cohan as Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, who are also executive producing with Scott M. Gimple. The cast also includes Gaius Charles, Mahina Napoleon, Željko Ivanek, Jonathan Higginbotham, Trey Santiago-Hudson, Logan Kim, and Charlie Solis. Season 2 will also introduces new character played by Kim Coates, Dascha Polanco, Keir Gilchrist, Jake Weary, and Pooya Mohseni.
