Eddie Jordan died on March 20, 2025. He was 76 years old. In December 2024, he disclosed during his appearance on the Formula For Success podcast that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of bladder and prostate cancer, which later spread to the spine and the pelvis. (via AP News)
A statement from Jordan’s family announced, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit, and entrepreneur.”
The statement continued, “He passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20 March 2025.” (via BBC Sport)
Since the news of Jordan’s death came out, tributes and messages of condolences for the family have been pouring in. Stefano Domenicali hailed Jordan as a “protagonist of an era of F1.” Domenicali’s statement reads, “We are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan. With his inexhaustible energy, he always knew how to make people smile, remaining genuine and brilliant at all times. Eddie has been a protagonist of an era of F1 and he will be deeply missed. In this moment of sorrow, my thoughts and those of the entire Formula 1 family are with his family and loved ones.”
Notably, Jordan gave Michael Schumacher his debut, running his F1 constructor until he sold it to Midland Group in 2005.
