Pirates’ Jared Jones Will Miss Spring Training Due to Elbow Injury

Jared Jones, a key pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, is facing a setback as he deals with an elbow injury. With spring training underway, the MLB team is closely monitoring his condition and awaiting further medical evaluations. His absence raises concerns just weeks before the season opener, leaving fans eager for updates on his recovery and return to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Here are more details about Jared Jones’ injury and when he will return to play.

What happened to Jared Jones?

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jared Jones will not make his next spring training start after experiencing elbow discomfort, putting his availability for the regular season in question. With opening day fast approaching, his status remains uncertain.

Manager Derek Shelton confirmed on Wednesday that Jones will be sidelined for his upcoming start. Shelton said, “He’s not going to make his next start in Spring Training. That’s for sure. I think with that being said, we’re going to have to look at what happens going into the season.” (via ESPN)

The team has already conducted medical imaging and is awaiting a second opinion to determine the severity of the issue. Senior director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk described the situation as routine protocol. He explained that when a pitcher reports discomfort, thorough evaluations are necessary before deciding the next steps. Tomczyk added, “We’re hopeful we’ll have a resolution in the coming days, at least what the next steps are.”

When will Jared Jones return to play for Pittsburgh Pirates?

Currently, there is no confirmed timeline for Jared Jones’ return. The team is awaiting a second opinion. Until further evaluations are complete, it remains unclear when Jones will be able to resume pitching.

The right-hander, who posted a 6-8 record with a 4.14 ERA last season, was expected to play a key role alongside fellow rookie Paul Skenes.
