Christina Applegate recently shared some new information related to her battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). She revealed that she had been hospitalized over 30 times. The 53-year-old actress first confirmed her diagnosis in 2021 and has been open about her struggles with the disease ever since.

During the March 18th episode of her and Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s MeSsy podcast, Christina Applegate revealed that she had been hospitalized “upwards of 30 times” after throwing up and experiencing diarrhea, as well as pain, because of her multiple sclerosis.
“That is unimaginable, OK?,” she said. “They’ve done every test known to man on me.” She then mentioned how she had a lot of radiation put in her body via CT scans and other operations.
The Dead to Me alum then recalled something she had realized about MS in the last month. She then shared her realization with a listener who had MS and wrote a question about her struggles with it to the podcast. Here, Applegate noted that what she realized may not be actually happening but would share it regardless.
Applegate advised the listener to talk to their doctor about “motility issues.” The actress explained that one of the things MS caused was the slowing down of organs and their functioning, but not entirely. The Anchorman star then recounted a particular personal experience. She noted that if she wanted to “poop,” she vomited instead. “And when I puke, I get all the pain, and then all the things happen,” she added.
Applegate then urged the listener to consult a doctor about what she said. She then stressed that she was not giving medical advice.
The Primetime Emmy Award nominee then joked about a particular MS symptom. “Have you puked, and had diarrhea at the same time,” she said. “Because that’s my favorite part, that’s the sexiest.”
Applegate then shared some advice that had personally aided her. She said she wanted to have a trash can next to a toilet. “Because you can do both without it being messy, I had one yesterday,” she added.
