WWE is reportedly trying to bring Hall of Famer Sting back for an appearance after his retirement last year in AEW. At AEW Revolution 2024, Sting and Darby Allin successfully defended their Tag Team Championship against The Young Bucks.
Sting’s final match in his professional wrestling career maintained his undefeated AEW record at 29-0, giving him a 100% win percentage in Tony Khan’s promotion. After retiring, he made a surprise return at All In 2024, rescuing Darby Allin from The Elite’s attack.
In October 2024, he signed a multi-year non-wrestling contract with AEW, allowing the promotion to sell his merchandise and feature him in occasional appearances. Although Sting remains under contract with AEW, reports suggest that WWE wants him at the 2025 Hall of Fame ceremony.
Sting’s close friend and WCW legend Lex Luger has named him and Diamond Dallas Page as his preferred inductors. Reports suggest that Luger informed WWE that Sting is his top choice, and WWE is now actively working to make it happen.
Report: WWE Trying to bring AEW’s Sting to Hall of Fame 2025
Earlier this month, WWE announced Lex Luger as the third inductee into the 2025 Hall of Fame class. The WWE Champion Cody Rhodes personally delivered the news to the former WCW World Champion.
The reports suggested Lex Luger wanted Sting to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame 2025 class. Fightful Select revealed WWE planned to reach out to Sting about appearing at the ceremony. Reports indicate that Luger and those close to him informed WWE that Sting was his preferred inductee.
However, the report also states that Sting told people he likely wouldn’t be able to induct Luger due to his AEW contract. He is scheduled to appear at WrestleCon Las Vegas over WrestleMania 41 weekend.
WrestleCon announced that the AEW star originally planned to have a limited schedule for WrestleMania 41 week. However, those plans have now expanded as he is set to appear on 19th and 20th April.
