007: Russo Brothers Address if They’d Direct a James Bond Movie After Avengers: Secret Wars

The Russo Brothers have addressed whether or not they’d be interested in directing a James Bond movie.

Joe and Anthony Russo are currently working on two new Avengers movies for Marvel Studios: 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. The two of them are also heavily involved with Amazon Prime Video’s Citadel, which is a very Bond-like television show that premiered in 2023.

What did the Russo Brothers say about directing a Bond movie?

Given their work on Citadel and their history of working with Amazon, who has recently taken over creative control of 007, the Russos were asked by The Hollywood Reporter if they’d be interested in directing a James Bond movie if given the opportunity to do so.

“We’re focused on the next two Avengers movies,” Joe answered. “But we love Bond. We love working with Amazon. We’ve got a number of projects at AGBO that we’re developing for us to direct right after the Avengers films.”

Amazon has not officially announced any forthcoming Bond-related project at this time.

The Russo’s most recent film, The Electric State, is now streaming on Netflix. It stars Chris Pratt, Millie Bobby Brown, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander, and more, while Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Alan Tudyk, Colman Domingo, and others voice characters in the film.

“The Electric State tells the story of Michelle (Brown), a young woman traveling with a sweet but mysterious robot,” a description of the movie reads. “The pair reluctantly team up with eccentric drifter Keats (Pratt), and set out on a cross-country road trip to find Michelle’s younger brother. Along the way, they have to navigate an electrified, retro-futuristic US landscape with eerie similarities to our own time.”

Avengers: Doomsday, meanwhile, will arrive in United States theaters on May 1, 2026, from Marvel, while Avengers: Secret Wars follows on May 7, 2026.
