Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, have addressed the recent concept art leaks for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The Russo Brothers are currently working on two new movies for Marvel Studios: Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives in 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars, which will be released in 2027.
Earlier this month, MCU concept art that was seemingly made for Avengers: Doomsday and/or Avengers: Secret Wars leaked online. It was quickly deleted but still proceeded to make the rounds on social media. Included in the concept art was a gathering of the Young Avengers (with Doop also making an appearance), Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova bringing a prisoner to God Emperor Doom, and more.
What did the Russos say about the Avengers concept art leaks?
When asked by The Hollywood Reporter if fans should be worried about the concept art spoiling any plot points in the forthcoming Avengers movies, the Russos denied that the leak was real.
“That artwork was not from Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars,” Joe said.
Anthony added, “Nothing spoiling in there. That’s not our concept art.”
Official plot details for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars remain under wraps at this time, though there’s been no shortage of online rumors regarding who could show up in the movies. One thing that is definitely known is that Robert Downey Jr. is playing Doctor Doom/Victor von Doom in the forthcoming films, as that was announced at San Diego Comic-Con last year.
Others, such as the main cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America/Sam Wilson, are also expected to appear, though how big of a role they will have remains to be seen.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to begin filming next month in London. That movie will be released in United States theaters on May 1, 2026, from Marvel. Avengers: Secret Wars then follows on May 7, 2027.
