After months of speculations, Apple TV+ has finally announced the Ted Lasso Season 4 renewal for its acclaimed comedy-drama series. It has also been confirmed that Emmy winner Jason Sudeikis will officially be reprising his titular role as the beloved football coach of AFC Richmond. At the end of the Season 3 finale, the character was last seen by fans leaving the club after the team failed to win the league. He decided to return home to America, where he becomes the coach for his son’s soccer team.
At the moment, Sudeikis is the only confirmed official cast member for Season 4. However, Juno Temple and Brendan Hunt are reportedly currently in negotiations to reprise their respective roles as Keeley Jones and Brendan Hunt. Meanwhile, last August 2024, it was confirmed that Warner Bros. Television had previously secured the rights to bring back Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift should the show return for another season.
What did Jason Sudeikis say about the Ted Lasso Season 4 renewal?
Sudeikis has shared a statement about the Ted Lasso Season 4 renewal, teasing what to expect from the long-awaited next installment. For his leading performance in Season 3, he received Best Actor nominations from the Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.
“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,'” Sudeikis said in a statement. “In Season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to leap before they look, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
Apple TV+ executive Matt Cherniss added, “Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief. Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”
Ted Lasso follows an American football coach hired to manage a British soccer team despite having no experience. Sudeikis first portrayed the character in 2013 as part of NBC Sports’ promotional videos. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly. It is executive produced by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer, with 30 Rock’s Jack Burditt.
