Tony Khan Shares Update on Kenny Omega’s Next Opponent for AEW Dynasty

AEW President Tony Khan has revealed a major update on new International Champion Kenny Omega’s next opponent for AEW Dynasty. The upcoming pay-per-view will take place at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 6th April.

Last month, at AEW Grand Slam Australia, Kenny Omega teamed up with Will Ospreay for a match. Omega and Ospreay defeated Kyle Fletcher and International Champion Konosuke Takeshita, with Omega pinning the champion for the win.

Following the win, Kenny Omega challenged Konosuke Takeshita to an International Title match at AEW Revolution. Omega, who was frustrated with Takeshita and his former best friend Don Callis, made his intentions clear.

They repeatedly bragged about defeating Kenny Omega twice in one week in 2023. Takeshita first secured a victory over Omega in a trios tag team match at All In. A week later, at AEW All Out, Takeshita defeated Omega again — this time in a singles match — giving him two consecutive wins over the former AEW World Champion.

At AEW Revolution, Omega finally got his revenge, defeating Takeshita via pinfall by rolling him up for the win. Following his first International Championship victory, President Tony Khan has announced a tournament to determine Omega’s next challenger at AEW Dynasty.

Tony Khan recently announced that the AEW Dynasty International Eliminator Tournament will begin on Dynamite. He revealed that four first-round matches were split between Dynamite and Collision. The matches are Orange Cassidy vs. Hechicero, Wildcard competitor vs. The Beast Mortos, Ricochet vs. Katsuyori Shibata, and Mark Briscoe vs. Mark Davis.

The winners of these matches will advance to a four-way eliminator match on the March 19th episode of Dynamite. The winner of this match will earn a title shot against Kenny Omega at AEW Dynasty in Philadelphia. With Omega also scheduled to appear on Dynamite, he will undoubtedly keep a close eye on the tournament’s outcome.
