An icon of the alternative R&B industry, SZA has come out to respond to Shannon Sharpe’s dubious comments about her. The latter reportedly brought up the topic of SZA’s decision to undergo a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) surgery while conducting an interview, subsequently prompting the Kill Bill singer to issue a reply.
Here’s what the 35-year-old artist had to say about Sharpe’s recent remarks.
What did Shannon Sharpe say about SZA?
In one of his recent Club Shay Shay podcast episodes, the three-time Super Bowl champion invited singer/actress Coco Jones to discuss several topics, including dating, Disney, and Lil Wayne, among others. During the line of questioning, Shannon Sharpe also brought up the subject of SZA’s BBL and asked for Jones’ thoughts on the matter.
Jones approached the matter with sensitivity and provided a balanced answer to Sharpe’s query without mentioning SZA’s name. Nevertheless, the former NFL veteran has come under fire for asking such a contentious question in the first place. SZA herself took to Instagram to share a humorous yet critical response to Shannon Sharpe.
Writing in the comment section of a clip featuring the interaction between Sharpe and Jones, the five-time Grammy winner said, “Lmaooo now why would this be a question for coco. Poor baby she handled it well now Shay Shay.” She then added a follow-up comment, stating, “Incredibly tacky.. I wanted to come here too dah well,” as per The Express Tribune.
Notably, SZA had expressed concerns about the aftermath of her BBL procedure in an earlier interview, even before Shannon Sharpe entered the picture. “I gained all this weight from being immobile while recovering and trying to preserve the fat. It was just so stupid,” she stated while speaking with British Vogue last year. However, SZA concluded by saying that she is still grateful for her updated physique.
