She shared the news in a TikTok video, saying, “I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, but that’s what I decided was best for myself and my 12-year-old child.” O’Donnell is in the process of obtaining Irish citizenship through her grandparents. She described the move as “pretty wonderful” and said the people in Ireland have been “so loving, so kind, so welcoming.”
O’Donnell stated that she left the U.S. on January 15, five days before Donald Trump took office as the 47th President. She cited political concerns as a factor in her decision, saying, “It’s been heartbreaking to see what’s happening politically and hard for me personally as well.” She added, “When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.”
She said she misses her children, friends, and life in the U.S. but is focused on settling in Ireland.
