Hugh Jackman & Ryan Reynolds Friendship Explained

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ friendship has given Hollywood one of its best on-screen duos: Deadpool and Wolverine. The chaotic duo’s bond is no secret and is highly cherished by their fans. Having known each other for approximately 20 years, Jackman and Reynolds channeled their powerful chemistry in Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine, which has been praised by both fans and critics.

Here is a look at their friendship timeline.

Exploring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds friendship

Hugh Jackman and his close friend Ryan Reynolds have constantly indulged in playfully teasing each other off-screen. However, this all started when the two first met in 2007 while shooting X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Since then, they have made appearances at each other’s birthdays, parties, and on social media. While promoting Deadpool & Wolverine in May 2024, Jackman and Reynolds reflected on their friendship and how their bond has remained strong after so many years. Reynolds told People magazine that they tend to “rely on each other for the real kind of advice.” Jackman, on the other hand, described Reynolds as an “unbelievable listener.”

Jackman added, “You can tell me anything, and I can tell you anything, and I don’t feel like you’re going to be judging.” The Free Guy star further asserted that a long-lasting friendship is similar to a marriage, stating that having a friend in Hollywood is like having a partner.

Additionally, in July 2024, Hugh Jackman told Marvel that working with Ryan Reynolds has strengthened their bond even more. He said, “We’ve been friends for 15 years, but our friendship just gets better and better, deeper and deeper. We hang out a lot.”

The Greatest Showman star also shared that working “on set every day with one of my best buddies (Ryan Reynolds) and (director Shawn Levy)” was an incredible experience for him.
