Aaron Gordon Suffers Calf Injury During Nuggets vs. OKC Match

With the regular season fast approaching its conclusion, the Denver Nuggets failed to close the gap in the table following their narrow defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder in their latest NBA fixture. The defeat came with an additional cost, as the Nuggets also lost Aaron Gordon to an injury in the game. As such, fans have raised concerns regarding the player’s condition, including his estimated return to fitness.

Here’s everything you need to know regarding the 29-year-old power forward’s latest ailment.

What happened to Aaron Gordon?

Aaron Gordon sustained an injury in his right calf in the Nuggets’ 127-103 loss vs Oklahoma City.

The unfortunate incident occurred in the first quarter of the clash, with Gordon exiting the court after experiencing tightness in his right calf muscle. The 2023 NBA champion secured five points on three shots with a couple of rebounds before his premature departure from the match-up. While Denver did not officially rule out Gordon from the play, the veteran failed to return to the field prior to his first-quarter exit.

When will Aaron Gordon return to play for the Nuggets?

At the time of writing, the severity of Aaron Gordon’s injury remains unknown. As such, it is difficult to predict when the former Orlando Magic player will be able to complete his recovery.

Talking about Gordon’s condition in a postgame conference, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone noted, “I’ve got to go back and talk to the medical staff, but he wasn’t able to return. We’ll have to wait and see what they say.” (via The Denver Gazette)

Notably, Gordon first suffered an injury in his right calf on November 4, 2024, which ended up sidelining him for four weeks. His December 1 return lasted 24 days before Gordon strained the same muscle on Christmas Day, which ruled him out for three weeks. While a comeback before Denver’s playoff run remains on the cards, nothing can be said for sure until the results of Gordon’s further medical assessments come out.

The Nuggets will be playing a rematch against Oklahoma City in their next NBA matchup.
